Periodontists are doctors of dentistry who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease. Periodontal disease affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth (known as gum disease) and in the placement of dental implants. Periodontists may also provide other specialized oral care, include scaling and root work (the cleaning or removal of a tooths root), oral inflammation treatment, and cosmetic procedures. These professionals attend and complete an undergraduate college degree and then must attend and complete delta school with a doctorate of dental surgery degree (DDS) or doctor of medical dentistry degree (DMD). These doctors restore oral health, promote a routine dental hygiene regimen and recommend regular dental checkups to prevent ongoing periodontal events.

Periodontists typically organize in private practice offices as individuals serving a community. In most cases, periodontic patients come in as a referral from their general dentist. Periodontic offices are staffed by periodontists, general dentists, dental hygienists, dental support and administrative staff. The business side of these practices are run by electronic medical record (EMR) and electronic health record (EHR) software platforms. These systems manage patient records, imaging, scheduling, patient communication and accounting. Billing is often covered by health insurance and co-pays or any out-of-pocket costs are sent directly to patients for payment. Invoices can then be paid by cash, check, debit card or credit card.

Payment Integrator has the ability to integrate periodontist payments into practices, whatever they may be. We’re able to do this as a direct integration with EMR or EHR systems or as a stand alone fully functional payment processing system. We accept periodontist payments in person with tokenized P2PE devices which make taking credit card and debit card transactions safe, secure and fast. Our devices also come enabled to process e-wallets like Google Pay and Apple Pay. Text-to-pay and email-to-pay options simplify patient payment presentment. For over the phone transactions we have an easy-to-use virtual terminal that can be accessed on a computer or mobile device. All of our systems are PCI-Compliant.
